Harrow Weald was first mentioned in a document in the 16th century. The name Weald comes from an Anglo-Saxon word which means forest. It was spelled “waldis” or “welde” in the 14th century. This HA3 area is the northernmost part of Harrow. It was developed in the 1930s and it encompasses a part of ancient woodland.
