Thames Ditton is a residential town by and on the River Thames, in Surrey’s Elmbridge borough. Aside from a huge populated island in the river, it is situated on the south bank, positioned 19.6 km (12.2 miles) southwest of Charing Cross.
The town is just on the outskirts of Greater London but inside the Greater London Urban Area as outlined by the Office of National Statistics. Thames Ditton’s clustered town center and shopping district on a meandering high street is bounded by sports areas, houses and schools. Its highly commercial zone is scattered throughout its conservation area and comprises of shops, cafes, restaurants and businesses.
Thames Ditton railway station, operated by South Western Railway, serves the area. It has rail services to London Waterloo every 30 minutes, from 5:56 am to 11:26 pm. There are many bus routes that run through the area including 513, 514, 515, 715 and 458.
