Vantage Point building, also known as the Archway Tower, is the tallest building in the area. New Model Army’s song Archway Tower is supposedly inspired by this building. The cover photo for the Muswell Hillbillies album by The Kinks was taken at the Archway Tavern. Archway N19 name derives from the 1813 brick bridge that featured multiple arches. Hornsey Lane Bridge replaced the old one in 1900.
Shazad Latif, the British actor who portrays Ash Tyler in Star Trek: Discovery lived here when he was a child. Another name associated with the area is Bill Nighy. He played Davy Jones in Pirates of the Caribbean and Rufus Scrimgeour in Harry Potter. Jude Law apparently lived above a laundromat (across Sainsbury’s) on Fortess Road. The Muswell Hillbillies album cover by The Kinks in 1971 was photographed in the Archway Tavern.
Archway, an inner neighborhood of north London and situated north of Charing Cross, is recognized as a district center in the London Plan. The area is of mid elevation between Islington below and Highgate above and has two big parks and seven small parks.
An inner-city area in the London Borough of Islington, Upper Holloway is situated on the Holloway Road (A1). The area is covered under the postcode zone N19. Upper Holloway used to be one of the many villages within the ancient town of St. Mary Islington.
The nearest London Overground railway station in the area is Upper Holloway station, on the Gospel Oak to Barking line. The station operated by London Overground and is just a short walking distance from Archway, along Holloway Road.
