Did you know that...
Arnos Park opened in 1928. The Arnos Park Viaduct that runs through the western side of the park has 34 arches. On the northern side of the park, one can see the remains of the abandoned New River artificial waterway.
Arnos Grove N11 used to be a medieval estate owned by the Arnolds, a family of Norman descent. The family’s recorded history dates back to the 1500s. In the old days, the estate was known as the Armholt Wood and later as the Arno’s Grove or the Arnoldes Grove. What remains of the natural grove is now the Arnos Park.
During World War II, a part of the New Southgate residential area was destroyed. This made possible the extension of the Arnos Grove N11 to the south. Local attractions include, public swimming facility Arnos Pool, and a wide range of pubs and restaurants some of which are even dog friendly.
