Dollis Hill House, built in 1825, housed a number of famous guests such as Mark Twain, Randolph Churchill, and Joseph Chamberlain. The building was left in ruin by a fire in 1990. It was demolished in 2012.
Engineer Tommy Flowers and his team built the Colossus computer at the Post Office Research Station in Dollis Hill NW2. The computer was used by the Bletchley Park team to decode German transmissions during World War II.
