Hammersmith is a west London district situated 6.9 km (4.3 miles) west-southwest of Charing Cross. The area is recognized in the London Plan as one of Greater London’s 35 major hubs and is the London Borough of Hammersmith and Fulham’s administrative center.
Bordering Hammersmith to the north is Shepherd’s Bush, to the south is Fulham, to the east is Kensington, and to the west is Chiswick. The area is among the major employment and commercial centers in west London and has been for several decades a main hub of the Polish community in London.
