Kilburn NW6 is part of the ancient trackway that is called Watling Street. The name of the area derives from the Westbourne river that was called Cuneburna or Cyebourne. The name Kilburn first appears in a document in the 12th century.

Model Kate Moss is one of the former famous residents. Writer George Orwell lived in Kilburn NW6 with his wife Eileen. Actor Cillian Murphy and actress Daisy Ridley lived in the area as well.

Kilburn is a northwest London district located 6 km (3.75 miles) northwest of Charing Cross. Kilburn High Road, which is part of the new A5 thoroughfare, is the area’s main road that runs from northwest to southeast and creates the border between the towns of Camden and Brent.

Serving Kilburn High Road are various railway lines that travel from east to west, connecting the district with central London and boroughs located in the outer northwest London area. Railways were initially established in Kilburn when the London and North Western Railway opened Kilburn High Road railway station (formerly Kilburn & Maida Vale station) in 1852 and then two more stations in Kilburn’s Brondesbury district in 1860 and 1879 by the Hampstead Junction Railway and Metropolitan Railway, respectively.

King Henry VIII dissolved the Kilburn Priory in the 16th century. Around 1600, the Bell Inn was built on the site of the old priory mansion. Legend has it that the priory guesthouse was turned into the Red Lion pub.
