Did you know that...
Abbey Wood is a real gem, when it comes to nature and wildlife. The site is home to more than 40 species of birds, 12 species of mammal, 300 species of plant, including the sessile oak and wild daffodil. The avifauna of Abbey Wood includes all three British woodpeckers and rare species of bats.
Soon Abbey Wood will be connected by the Crossrail. It will take only 25 minutes to get to Bond Street and 11 minutes to Canary Wharf. The south-east London’s area is very suburban and features a brilliant sense of community. The district can’t boast of numerous fashionable places though, it has some decent cafes, like the one in the Bostall woods. And you still can head to Plumstead High Street and enjoy yourself in the noodle and tandoori bars there.
The other notable local attractions include The Victorian Crossness Pumping Station, the ruins of the 12th-century Lesnes Abbey, and St. Michael and All Angels Parish Church.
Nature lovers and those seeking peace and quiet will love strolling around Bostall Gardens, woodland of Lesnes Abbey Wood, Bostall Woods and Heath, or Abbey Wood Park.
