In the medieval age, Bow E3 was known as Stratford-at-Bow. The bowed bridge that was constructed in the 12th century gave the area its name.
Bow is an area in the district in Tower Hamlets in London’s East End and spans from Globe Town and Mile End (west to east) and from Bow Common and Hackney (north to south), with Roman Road Market being its town center. The Roman or Roman is the area’s local nickname in connection with its high street and is largely a residential neighborhood that is linked to the Docklands Light Railway and London Underground. Bow is 7.4 kilometers (4.6 miles) east of Charing Cross.
Singer Amy Winehouse lived in an apartment in Bow E3. Rappers Dizzee Rascal and Wiley were born here. Oscar winner Donald Crisp hails from Bow E3 as well. Actor Ian McKellen known for his roles as Gandalf in Lord of the Rings and Magneto in X-Men lives here.
