Camden Town NW1 is named after William Camden, a 16th century historian. He is the author of Britannia, a topographical survey of Great Britain and Ireland. Camden’s old home in Chislehurst was known as Camden Place after he died. In the 18th century, the house was bought by Charles Pratt who become Baron Camden.
