Located in north London, East Barnet is a vast residential suburb bordered by Southgate, New Barnet, and Cockfosters. It is situated in London Borough of Barnet with an abundance of restaurants, shops, services, and public houses found in the central area.
This area has its very own electoral ward, and its 2011 census ward has a populace of 16,137. The ethnic group consists of 5.1% Black, 10.6% Asian, and 76.6% White. 54% were Christian, and 15% were a mix of Muslims, Hindus, and Jews.
St Mary the Virgin was built in 1080. The original windows didn’t have any glass. It was added in the 13th century and part of it still remains to the day. The three bells wooden turret was added in 1794.
East Barnet School was established in 1937. Notable former pupils include two times gold winner athlete John Wrighton, businessman Peter Hollins, and scientist John Stollery. In 2010, Nobel winner Tim Hunt opened the Project Faraday science facilities at East Barnet School.
