Did you know that...
Situated east of Dartford, Greenhithe is a ward in Kent’s Dartford district. The area is situated in the civil parish of Greenhithe and Swanscombe. Nearby boroughs include Bean, Northfleet, Southfleet, Longfield, Darenth, and Hartley.
The railway station that serves the area is Greenhithe, with southeastern access to Charing Cross both through Woolwich Arsenal and Sidcup and continues to Gillingham and Gravesend. As for bus services, it is served by Ensignbus, Thameside, Arriva Kent, Transport for London (TfL), and Fastrack.
Greenhithe is home to one of Europe’s biggest malls, Bluewater. This ultimate shopping destination has 300 stores inside and includes high-street favorites like Marks & Spencer, House of Fraser, and John Lewis. There is also a wide variety of restaurants and pubs, numerous parklands and lakes, and local attractions such as Heritage Park and Stone Church.
Ingress Abbey, a Tudor-gothic-style manor, was built in 1833. They say that a stone removed from the medieval London Bridge has been used in the construction.
Greenhithe’s economy used to depend on the River Thames. But now Bluewater shopping center, for example, is more relevant to the local economy.
