Did you know that...
Park Royal is a northwest London district, situated partly in both the London Borough of Ealing and London Borough of Brent. The area is the location of London’s biggest business park, occupying 1,200 acres (500 hectares). It features more than 1,200 businesses, including 500 food companies, and 35,000 workers. The 500 food companies supply one third of the food in London. The Grand Union Canal runs through the area.
Park Royal is named after the 1903 Royal Agricultural Society showgrounds that operated for only three years. Sports events hosted here include Queens Park Rangers F.C. matches, the first game of the Kangaroo Tour, and 1948 Summer Olympic field hockey events.
McVitie’s, Heinz, The Female Health Company, Diageo, and Lafarge Tarmac are some of the businesses found at Park Royal. There was a Guinness brewery as well but it was demolished. At one point, it was the world’s largest and most productive brewery.
On the south part of the area is the Royal Leisure Park, which has an arcade, a bowling alley, a cinema and several restaurants. There is a Staples superstore, a B&Q superstore, Nissan and Renault car dealerships, and other industrial establishments as well.
The A406 and A460 are the primary roads that serve Royal Park. The area is also located near a main intersection known as the Hanger Lane gyratory. Overground and underground train stations in Park Royal are Stonebridge Park station, Harlesden station, Hanger Lane station and Park Royal station.
