Queensbury is a northwest London district located on the southeast part of the London Borough of Harrow on the border with the London Borough of Brent. Towns near Queensbury include Burnt Oak, Edgware, Stanmore, Kingsbury, Colindale, The Hyde and Kenton.
Queensbury NW9 developed around the tube station with the same name that opened in 1932. A newspaper competition decided the name that has no historical basis. It was chosen to match the nearby station Kingsbury. The area sits on a former airfield.
The buildings and shops featured the 1930s style but some have gone through redevelopment works and now have a more modern look. The Magoo Brothers punk-jazz band have a song called Queensbury Station. The writers of the song lived in the area as children.
Queensbury is the next station for The Hive Stadium that is the home football ground of Barnet Football Club. In the 1960s, the Essoldo cinema was converted into a bingo hall. Royal Air Force Museum and Bentley Priory museum are some of the nearby attractions.
The NW postcode zone covers the southeast area of Queensbury tube station while the HA postcode zone include areas around Honeypot Lane and Queensbury Circle. The area is served by London Underground Queensbury station on the Jubilee line and in Travelcard Zone 4.
London Buses serve Queensbury, with buses 614 and 644 (both non-TFL route) running from Hatfield to Queensbury station and Wembley Park, respectively. Metroline operates bus routes 114, 324, 606 and N98, while bus routes 79 and 288 are operated by London Sovereign.
