Did you know that...
Regent Street is a main shopping boulevard located in the West End of London. The area was designed and completed in 1825 under the supervision of architects James Burton and John Nash. Regent Street was named after George IV (formerly George, the Prince Regent).
Rent Street is roughly 1.3 km (0.8 miles) long and runs from Waterloo Place via Oxford Circus and Piccadilly Circus all the way to All Souls Church. Oxford Circus, Charing Cross and Piccadilly Circus stations are the closest London Underground tube stations in Regent Street. Numerous bus routes run along the area, including 13, 12 and 6.
There are many flagship retail shops in Regent Street such as Apple Store, Jaeger, Hamleys, Microsoft Store and Liberty. The main branch of Dickins and Jones, a first-class department store, is also located in the area. Since 1838, it has been home to the University of Westminster (formerly Royal Polytechnic Institution).
