Did you know that...
Silvertown is an east London town in the London Borough of Newham. It forms portion of the Port of London and is situated on the northern shore of the River Thames. The town got its name from the factories that was created by S.W. Silver and Co. in 1852.
West Silvertown Station is the closest railway station in the area. Operated by Docklands Light Railway, an extension from Canning Town to Woolwich Arsenal was improved to provide better access. On the eastern border of Silvertown lies London City Airport.
In popular culture, a small portion of the town near the factory of Tate and Lyle was part of the movie 28 Weeks Later. Silvertown is also popular among urban explorers who visit the area regularly to take photos of Millennium Mills.
