Slough is a huge district within Berkshire, around 29 km (18 miles) northeast of Reading and 32 km (20 miles) west of central London. It lies in the Thames Valley, at the junction of the M25, M4 and M40 motorways. As of the 2018 Census, there are 164,000 residents in Slough.
Great Western Railway serves Slough, with stations at Langley, Burnham and Slough. The station is an intersection between the Slough to Windsor & Eton Line and the Great Western Main Line to allow commuters to link for Windsor & Eton Central.
Slough Town F. C. is the town’s senior non-League football club, currently playing in the Southern Football League Premier Division. There are many primary and secondary schools as well as an East Berkshire College campus in Slough. Notable people associated with the area include comedian Jimmy Carr, footballer Billy Clifford, author Simon Kernick and Olympic athlete Kim Conley.
