Nine Elms is a district within southwest London’s Battersea and in the remote northeast part of the London Borough of Wandsworth, in the middle of Vauxhall and the SW8 border of Battersea’s town proper. In the past, Nine Elms was mostly industrial, but its present character is becoming more commercial and residential.
The Battersea Power Station, Battersea Dogs and Cats Home, New Covent Garden Market, and several railway lines can be found in the area. There are 3 huge council estates in Nine Elms, namely Savona, Carey Garden and Palmore Estate, while Embassy Gardens and Chelsea Bridge Wharf are housing developments near the riverside.
Three councilors represent Nine Elms, and they are elected every 4 years to Wandsworth Council. The U.S. Embassy in London relocated to Nine Elms from their location in Grosvenor Square, Mayfair as well as the Embassy of the Netherlands from their Hyde Park Gate, Kensington location.
