Stanwell is a suburban and urban neighborhood in the borough of Spelthorne in Surrey. It is located 26 km (16 miles) west southwest of Charing Cross and just 800 meters (half a mile) from the southern border of Heathrow Airport, adjacent its cargo warehouse.
One of the most notable structures in Stanwell is St. Mary the Virgin, a parish church in the Church of England. This Grade I listed Norman building undergone restoration in 1862 and another one in 1903. Stanwell Place is another popular building situated north of Park Road and half a mile west of the town village.
Stanwell has a population of 11, 279 as of the 2011 Census and comprises mostly of terraced, semi-detached and detached homes. Notable people associated with the area include painter Nicholas Hilliard, civil engineer Sir John Watson Gibson, singer Gary Numan, author and theatrical producer Pete Shaw, and British horticulturist Richard Cox.
