Surbiton is a southwest London residential district in the Royal Borough of Kingston upon Thames (RBK), located adjacent to the River Thames and 18 km (11 miles) southwest of Charing Cross. The area is comprised of 4 RBK’s wards, namely Surbiton Hill, St. Mark’s, Berrylands and Alexandra.
The area was previously part of Kingston upon Thames’ ancient parish until 1965 when it was incorporated into Greater London. Surbiton has a combination of large townhouses from the 19th century, Art Deco courtyards and semi-detached 20th-century dwellings.
Surbiton is served by Berrylands railway station and Surbiton railway station (operated by South Western Railway), with links to Hampshire, London Waterloo and Surrey. Transport for London (TfL) bus routes K1, K2, K3, K4, 71, 281, 406, 418 and 465 serve the area as well. Gatwick and Heathrow, two of the biggest airports in London, are near Surbiton.
