Swanscombe is a tiny village in the Borough of Dartford, located northwest of the county of Kent. It lies on the northwest corner of Gravesend and eastern side of Dartford, in the civil parish of Swanscombe and Greenhithe. The village is covered under postcode district DA10.
The village has its own cricket club, Swanscombe and Greenhithe 1880 CC, which was originally established in 1880. The cricket club plays their home games at Broomfield Park. Swanscombe railway station serves the area, with services operated by Thameslink and Southeastern. Trains run to London Charing Cross, Rainham, Gravesend and Luton via London Bridge, Greenwich, Luton Airport, St. Pancras International and St. Albans City.
Bluewater Shopping Centre, one of Europe’s largest complexes, is near Swanscombe. The town is also home to The Ebbsfleet Academy (previously called Swan Valley Community School), a co-education secondary school. The electoral ward of Swanscombe has a population of 6,418 as of the 2001 Census.
