Thamesmead is a neighborhood in southeast London, spanning the boundary between the Royal Borough of Greenwich and the London Borough of Bexley. The area lies northeast of Woolwich, west of Erith and 18 km (11 miles) east of Charing Cross. Thamesmead largely consists of social houses that was made during the mid-1960s on prior marshland on the River Thames’ south bank.

The Thamesmere Centre (Thamesmead Central), which is operated by Greenwich Leisure Limited and Greenwich Council, features a library, swimming pool and fitness gym. Canoeing and sailing can be done at Southmere Lake and is operated by Southmere Boating Centre (along with Greenwich Yacht Club).
