Situated in the London Borough of Havering, Wennington is a small town and ex-civil parish within the Metropolitan Green Belt. It is located 23.8 km (14.8 miles) east of Charing Cross. The nearest towns in Wennington are Purfleet, Aveley and Rainham.
The town is on the southeast corner of Rainham, along B1335 (Wennington Road) close to the intersection of A1306 (New Road) and A13. It is approximately 1.2 miles (2 km) north of the River Thames and comprises of the Wennington Hall farmhouse and mainly scattered houses.
Wennington is served by two stations – Rainham railway station, on the Essex Thameside (London, Thilbury, and Southend Railway line), and Purfleet railway station (also on the LTSR line). The town has a football club, Wennington Rovers, that plays at Spring Farm Park in Rainham.
