Winchmore Hill has many buildings of historical note. The Quaker Meeting House, first religious building recorded in 1688 was rebuilt in 1790. The father of modern meteorology, also founder of Palmers Green High School for Girls, is Alice Hum. He was one of the members of the Hoare and Barclay banking families. During the early campaigns against the slave trades, Samuel Hoare was playing a prominent role.
At the heart of Winchmore Hill is also Winchmore Hill Green. The home of the reach and famous is Broad Walk, where Winchmore Hill has its very own “millionaire’s row”. The private estate Grovelands Park was partly sold of to the council in 1913. Today, part of this estate is still private now contains the Priory Clinic.
The Green Dragon, is the oldest pub in the district, opened in 1726. In 1892 the pub was pulled down and the new one was remodelled in 1935. Today you can find the new Little Green Dragon opened in 2017 at the end of Green Dragon Lane.
