Woodford is a district of the London Borough of Redbridge, which is split into the towns of Monkhams, Woodford Wells, Woodford Bridge, Woodford Green and South Woodford. It is located 15.3 km (9.5 miles northeast of Charing Cross. Woodford was historically part of Essex county up until 1965 when it became part of Greater London after the London Government Act 1963 was passed.
Woodford is adjacent to areas such as Highams Park, Chingford, Loughton and Wanstead, among others. There are two London Underground stations that serve Woodford – Woodford tube station and South Woodford tube station, both on the Central line. Rodding Valley tube station is also nearby.
